SANGHAR, July 20: Two men are feared to have been kidnapped but police are not doing anything to find them because of a dispute over jurisdiction.

Shahid Qureshi, headmaster of a private school, and his friend Shahzad Qureshi went missing after leaving Mirpurkhas in a car for Khipro late Thursday evening. Their car was found abandoned near Boreji bus stop, 15km from Khipro, on Friday. Relatives believe they have been kidnapped.

DSP Sikandar Qadri of Khipro said the men had been kidnapped from near Sabzal Shakh which was in the jurisdiction of Sindhri police station.

But DSP Younus Baloch of Sindhri denied that any kidnapping had taken place in his area.

Ashfaq Ahmed said his brother Shahzad Qureshi had last contacted his wife at 10.30pm on Thursday, adding that his cellphone remained switched off after midnight.

He said they had not yet received any ransom call. He said Khipro and Sindhri police were not helping them because of the jurisdiction dispute.
