PESHAWAR/NOWSHERA, July 19: Five persons, including a woman, were injured in a bomb blast in the limits of Paripura police station here on Thursday evening.

Police said that the explosive device, packed in a pressure cooker, was placed in a handcart that was parked near a bus stop. “It seemed that it was a time bomb, which weighed about three kilograms,” they said. Four of the injured persons were identified as Aziz Khan, Abdul Majeed, Shehnaz and her son Shehzad. They were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital where condition of two of them was stated to be serious.

The injured woman told journalists that she was waiting for a taxicab at the bus stop when the bomb exploded. “It was a huge blast that raised clouds of smoke and dust,” she said.

In another incident suspected militants attacked a police patrolling party in the limits of Sarband police station. The attackers hurled two hand grenades at the police party. One of the grenades exploded, however, policemen remained unhurt.

Meanwhile, three bodies of unidentified persons, including a young girl, were found in different parts of Peshawar.

Two bodies were found in Gulay Baba Graveyard in the limits of Tehkal police station while the body of the girl, packed in sack, was recovered from Mohalla Ghori Khan in Sarki Gate.

Police said that the two deceased men, sporting beards, seemed to be in their forties. They were shot dead with firearms and their bodies were dumped in the graveyard. The bodies were shifted to a local mortuary for autopsy.

However, the girl’s body was buried after autopsy. According to police the body did not have any sign of violence. “According to medico-legal she died of suffocation or strangulating,” police said.

In Nowshera, two kidnapped policemen of Peshawar were recovered while two kidnappers were killed and one was arrested in a raid in Spin Khak village.

Sources said that Sub-Inspector Javed Akhtar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Gul Mohammad had been kidnapped two days ago from Peshawar. They said that law enforcers of Peshawar and Noweshera raided a hideout of kidnapper in Spin Khak village on a tip off and recovered the two policemen after an encounter. A member of the raiding team was also injured in the encounter.—Dawn Report
