DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 17: Clarifying a news report published in Dawn on Dec 15 under headline “ASP transferred on complaints”, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Dera Ismail Khan, on Tuesday said that the report was not based on facts as the transfer of Assistant Superintendent Police, city, Mohammed Yousuf Malik, was purely an administrative and routine matter.

The clarification issued by the DIG office contains that “the news item was not based on facts and tantamount to character assassination of a young PSP officer.

The allegation [against the officer] of patronizing drug peddlers is seriously misleading and damaging to the career of an honest officer”.

The report, the clarification contained, served the vested interest involved in criminal activities upon whom the officer concerned had been harsh.

The DIG said that the transfer of the said officer was purely an administrative and routine matter as he was not transferred alone, rather the transfer orders of eight police officers were issued vide CPO letter No 25846-68/E-I on Dec 12.

“No complaints of any sort have been instrumental in bringing about his transfer,” contained the clarification.
