Islamabad, Moscow hold talks on UNSC

ISLAMABAD, Dec 17: A consultative meeting between Pakistan and Russia on the UN Security Council was held here on Tuesday in a frank and cordial atmosphere, a spokesman of the Foreign Office stated in a press release.

The Russian delegation was led by Mr Andrey Granovsky, director of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs while the Pakistani team was headed by Tariq Osman Hyder, an additional secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Purpose of the meeting, ahead of Pakistan’s assuming its seat as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, was to coordinate position of the two countries on issues on the agenda of the council.

The Russian delegation welcomed Pakistan’s election as the non-permanent member of the Security Council.

The spokesman said Pakistan would contribute positively towards the important work of the Security Council in maintaining peace and security at the regional and the world level.
