SHIKARPUR, Dec 17: A large number of councillors observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against poor sanitary conditions in Shikarpur.
Leaders of the Councillors Action Committee criticized Nazims and Naib Nazims of district, taluka and city union councils for their inefficiency.
The councillors, including Qazi Fayaz, Shamshad Memon and Mohammad Paryal Mari, also slammed the Nazims and the Naib Nazims for preparing development schemes without consulting them.
They vowed to continue their protest till the improvement in sanitary and drainage systems and designing of development schemes in consultation with the councillors.
They demanded the district Nazim and the DPO should take notice of the law and order situation and tribal disputes.
Jeay Sindh Mahaz vice-chairman Agha Qamar Mashwani, PPP candidate for PS-12 Usaid Ahmad Soomro and other politicians visited the hunger strike camp and express their solidarity with the councillors.
KILLED: A man, Motbar Khan Jagirani, was shot dead by four armed Shar tribesmen near Khahi village on Friday. An old dispute between Jagiranis and Shar tribesmen was said to be the motive behind the killing.
