ISLAMABAD: During the hearing of a petition on the law and order situation and human rights violations in Balochistan, the Supreme Court on Friday gave the Frontier Corps (FC) ten days’ time to produce the missing persons, DawnNews reported.

A three-judge bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, at its Quetta registry was hearing the petition filed by the Balochistan Bar Association on the law and order situation in the province.

Inspector General of Frontier Corps (FC), Major General, Obaidullah Khan Khattak, was also present in court.

Earlier on Thursday, Chief Justice Iftikhar had warned that the Supreme Court should not be forced to issue orders for appearance of commandants and other senior officers of the Frontier Corps before magistrates in connection with missing persons’ cases, observing that so far there had been no response to directives of the court to produce missing persons before it.

During Thursday’s hearing, the bench had observed that police and Frontier Corps had failed to restore law and order in the province and recover missing persons.
