KARACHI, July 11: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the continuity of the democratic process in the country is due to the reconciliation policy of Benazir Bhutto, which needs to be enhanced further for resolving poverty, price hike, unemployment and loadshedding.

The president met Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar, acting Sindh Governor Nisar Khuhro, Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Pir Karam Ali Shah and National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza at the Bilawal House on Wednesday.

No official statement was issued regarding the president’s interaction with the governors and the NA speaker.

However, sources said that the president exchanged views with them on political and law and order situation, development projects and pressing issues of the people.

They said that he recalled that the present government took every decision in consultation with political forces and its allies and this practice would be continue in future.He directed all provincial governors to continue their efforts for maintenance of peace.

During his meeting with the Balochistan governor, President Zardari pointed out that the government was making every effort to restore peace in Balochistan and the federal government would provide all resources required to meet the needs and restore peace.

Referring to a sense of deprivation among the people of Balochistan, the president said that they all are patriotic and the government was striving to remove their sense of deprivation. He referred to a special package for Balochistan for swift development and providing basic amenities to common man.

He asked the Balochistan government to chalk-out a comprehensive plan to improve law and order situation in the province and those creating anarchy in the province must be dealt with strictly.

He said that the people of Balochistan had full rights over all resources in the province.

He gave the task to Governor Magsi to initiate a dialogue with angry Baloch leaders and submit a report about their reservations and problems so that necessary measures could be taken to solve their problems.

The president said that all issues could be solved through dialogues and as such all disgruntled elements ought to sit on the table to hold talks with the government so that their grievances and reservations could be addressed.Acting Sindh Governor Khuhro during his meeting informed the president about ongoing development projects and schemes and political situation in the province.
