HANGU, Dec 16: City Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) President Maulvi Mohammad Jalil has appealed to the provincial government to exempt girl students from the condition of submitting photographs with admission forms for the secondary school certificate examination.

Maulvi Jalil, who is also the Khateeb of Adda Masjid, made this appeal during a meeting attended by all office-bearers of the Hangu city JUI, said a statement issued here on Sunday.

The meeting observed that since most of the parents in this conservative district of the province preferred to deprive their daughters of getting education than to let them affix their photographs to the examination forms, the government must review its decision.

It also observed that if the education authorities went ahead with enforcing the condition, many girls would drop out of school.

The meeting also discussed the problems confronted by the provincial government and decided that the JUI workers would make efforts take masses into confidence and foil the conspiracies being hatched against the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government.

CLEANLINESS: The meeting also took serious notice of the bad condition of the city roads and amount of garbage found in every street, be it commercial or residential.

This state of affairs was being blamed on the goverment departments with the hope that they would mend their ways and start working for the good of the city.
