LAHORE, July 6: Scores of media men agitated at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Friday after a senior admin official and some security guards thrashed their colleagues.

Journalist Nadeem Butt visited the hospital to glean information about the strike. Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Basit stopped Mr Butt from entering the wards and allegedly misbehaved with him.

The admin official also called his security guards and manhandled the journalist at his office. Three media men reached there to rescue their colleague but met a similar fate. Dr Basit locked them up in his office, where some guards thrashed the journalists.

Later, several other journalists reached the hospital and called in the police who rescued their colleagues.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Ijaz Sheikh constituted a three-member committee comprising Pakistan Medical Association General-Secretary Dr Izhar Chaudhry, hospital’s AMS (Admin) Dr Anjum Jamal and journalist Gul Chaman Shah to probe the incident.
