LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association has decided to continue with its strike until all demands made were met, however they announced that doctors would resume duties in the emergency departments, DawnNews reported on Thursday.

Earlier, senior doctors from across Punjab had called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the CM Secretariat on Wednesday and had agreed to resolve the agony of the patients in hospitals, a spokesman of the health department said.

The doctors under detention are being released immediately, the spokesman claimed.

These decisions were taken unanimously in the meeting of the committee constituted by Shahbaz Sharif. It included senior doctors, public representatives and senior government officials, it added.

The Young Doctors Association’s strike has been called off and all doctors shall resume duties in their respective hospitals forthwith, the spokesman further said.

The situation is not clear as Punjab’s Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had also announced earlier that the strike was over, but the YDA has disassociated itself from the claim.
