KARACHI, July 4: The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has closed its Shamsi operations and maintenance centre in Shah Faisal Colony following a series of attacks on the facility and its staff by an unruly mob, says a press release.

The KESC said on Wednesday that the BOC Shamsi had temporarily been closed after its field staff team was held hostage by “mobsters” a few days back.

It said that members of the team Naveed Tariq, M. Akbar, Niaz and Asad were tortured and injured during their captivity. They along with their belongings were recovered with the help of local notables, it added.—PPI
