KARACHI, Dec 15: Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday observes the 16th anniversary of Aligarh carnage and the 31st anniversary of the fall of Dhaka.

According to a communique issued by the MQM, Quran Khwani and Fateha would be the common features of ceremonies to be held under its auspices after Zohr prayers to remember those who were martyred by terrorists in Aligarh Colony, Qasba Colony, Bewa Colony, Orangi Town and other localities on Dec 14, 1986 as well as those who laid down their lives in the East Pakistan debacle in 1971.

The ceremonies, being organized throughout Sindh, would be attended by members of the Coordination Committee and the newly-elected MNAs and MPAs of the MQM.

In his message on the occasion, the MQM chief, Altaf Hussain, said that the Aligarh carnage was the darkest chapter of the country’s history when terrorists went on a killing spree massacring hundreds of innocent men, women and children.

“We can never forget our martyrs... we have full faith in Allah who will not let their sacrifices go in vain... their sacrifices will lead our movement to achieve its objective,” he declared. — Staff Reporter
