KARACHI, June 30: Two personnel of the Special Investigation Unit of the police were on Saturday remanded in police custody in an extortion case by an anti-terrorism court.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Javed Iqbal and Constable Muzaffar Khan along with their absconding accomplice Constable Waseem Zaidi have been booked for allegedly demanding protection money from a shopkeeper in Jama Cloth Market on Friday.

The police produced the suspects before an anti-terrorism court and the investigation officer requested the court for their custody till July 20.

However, the judge in charge of the ATC-III, Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso, remanded them in police custody till July 6 with a direction to produce them in court on the next hearing.
