ISLAMABAD: The chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari, said on Saturday that a joint investigation team has been constituted to probe the Dr Arsalan Iftikhar case.

Addressing a media conference here today, Bokhari said that the team comprises officials from the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA), NAB and police.

He told media persons that he had received a 'threatening' letter from the Chief Justice's son, which is tantamount to contempt of court, terming it a an attempt to influence the investigation.

The Chairman NAB said corruption is the biggest menace faced by the country, adding that six to eight billion rupees were being embezzled on a daily basis.

He further said that the bureau was also looking into the allegations of corruption and irregularities in Pakistan Railways.

Bokhari informed media representatives that the reference filed by Rehman Malik against the Sharif brothers was being reviewed. He clarified that the bureau was not being used for political means, and said that no political cases will be opened as the country moves closer to the upcoming general elections.
