ATTOCK, June 25:  The District Police Headquarters Attock postponed the recruitment process of constables for an indefinite period of time on Monday, spreading great disappointment among the aspiring candidates.

A press release issued here claimed that new schedule for recruitments would be issued later, while no reason of postponement had been mentioned in it.

However, on contact, District Police Officer Hilal Khan informed Dawn the action had been taken on the direction of Central Police Office Punjab due to hot weather and approaching of Ramazan.

However, sources claimed some other reason could be behind the decision as the DPO’s explanation was not satisfactory.

Sources further claimed the recruitment process was to be ended well before the start of Ramazan as July 7 had been fixed for display of final list of successful candidates.

Earlier about 6,100 applications were received for only 116 posts of police constables including seven posts for women till the last date i.e. June18.

A three-member recruitment committee was also formed under the chairmanship of Commandant Sihala police training college, DIG Ghulam Rasool Zahid.
