ISLAMABAD, June 23: Another teenager became a victim of ‘swimming mania’ here on Saturday as he drowned in Rawal Dam while his two ‘rather lucky’ fellows were saved by the rescuers.

According to police, three teenagers including Mohammad Arslan 16 and his younger brother Mohammad Suleman 14, residents of I-10/1 came over to the dam from the Islamabad Club side to enjoy swimming.

They jumped and later went into deep waters where they started drowning. Over the hue and cry raised by them, other people who had come there for the same purpose sought help of the officials and police deployed at the dam.

Shortly after getting the information, rescue workers and divers reached the spot and succeeded in saving two of them. The two boys, who were unconscious, were shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.

However, their third fellow could not be traced.

After hours-long search operation, the divers finally succeeded in locating Mohammad Arslan’s body that was fished out and was later shifted to the hospital to fulfill legal requirements.
