QUETTA, Dec 14: The lawyers in Balochistan strongly protested the kidnapping of a judicial magistrate Jafarabad here and Dera Murad Jamali, on Saturday.
The Balochistan Bar Association marched from district courts and culminated at Quetta Press Club. The protest was led by the Bar’s president Ali Ahmed Kurd.
The participants were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against the government and local administration of Nasirabad district.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of Balochistan Bar Association strongly condemned the kidnapping of Judicial Magistrate Jafarabad, Mohammad Ali Kakar and another young man.
He also criticized the government for not taking steps for improving the law and order situation in the province and said that it was a matter of great concern that the administration and law enforcement agencies had failed to even maintain law and order in the home district of the prime minister.
Kurd said highway robberies have become a routine and travellers are feeling unsafe.
He further said that he had been kidnapped a few years back while travelling in the same area.
He said that the judicial magistrate Jafarabad was kidnapped by bandits at gunpoint after looting many buses, trucks, and passenger coaches.
He expressed concern over the incident and demanded of the government to take steps for the early recovery of kidnapped judicial magistrate and arrest of the kidnappers.
In the meantime the lawyers continue to boycott court proceedings on the third consecutive day on Saturday against the kidnapping.
The Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court has also taken serious notice of the kidnapping of the judicial magistrate and asked the officials concern recover the magistrate from the kidnappers.
He also visited Dera Murad Jamali to supervise the recovery operation launched by the police with the cooperation of other law enforcement agencies.
