DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 20: Chairperson of Tehrik-i-Masawat and former film actress Musarrat Shaheen on Tuesday criticized the role played by religious elements in the recent Afghan conflict, saying that these elements who wanted to create anarchy in the name of Islam, should be stripped of Pakistan’s citizenship.
Ms Shaheen was talking to journalists at an Iftar Party given in her honour by her supporters here on Tuesday.
She said that these elements only believed in the politics of dollars, pounds and permits and were never sincere either to the country or to their party men.
She alleged that almost all the religious parties’ leaders were bent upon inciting the people against the government to create a civil-war-like situation in the country.
She asked the government to banish all such elements including the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman from the country and terminate their citizenship forthwith.
Musarrat Shaheen claimed that the religious leaders wanted to safeguard their vested interests and create confusion in the country in the name of Islam and Afghanistan.
“Why these leaders are not so rigid on the Kashmir issue or the Middle East problem as they are on the cause of Taliban,” she questioned.
