HYDERABAD, Dec 14: The District Public Safety Commission (DPSC) has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the murder of Shahnaz Jatoi and the complaints of meat sellers.

The committee, comprising Q. Mohammad Hakim and Dr Akhlaq Ahmed, was constituted by the chairman of the DPSC, Masood Pervez.

CONVOCATION: The Governor of Sindh, Mohammedmian Soomro, will preside over ‘Convocation-2002’ of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology on Dec 21 at 11am.

SEMINAR: A one-day seminar was arranged at the Sir C. J. Institute of Psychiatry on ‘Psychiatric emergencies and their management’ here on Saturday.

Dr Abdul Karim Noorani introduced the subject.

Psychiatrist Dr A. Hameed Memon discussed 11 different psychiatric emergency conditions, including violent aggressive patients, psychogenic stupor and suicidal patients.

He emphasized on the management of suicidal patients, drugs psychotherapy and social support.

Doctors from the Institute of Psychiatry and the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences also attended the seminar.

ARRESTED: The Hyderabad region police have arrested five absconders and eight criminals and recovered six pistols, one revolver, one rifle, 19 bullets and 19 cartridges.
