KARACHI: Six Haqiqi activists held

KARACHI, Dec 14: Police raided a house in Korangi on Saturday and, after a brief exchange of fire, arrested six activists of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement.

Police said that they raided the place after information that MQM-H chief Afaq Ahmed and party General Secretary Amir Khan, with many other party activists, were hiding there.

The raid was conducted in Rahimabad, a locality in Korangi No 2 1/2, where activists of the MQM-H opened fired at police. An exchange of fire took place. Some of the activists escaped, but police arrested six of them.

Police believed that Afaq and Amir were hiding at the place and they escaped during the exchange of fire, police said.

Those arrested are Shahzad alias Ghandari, Aqeel, Abdur Rasheed, Yunus, Faisal and Shahid alias Tension. Police claimed that the arrested suspects were hardened criminals and were involved in a number of cases of heinous nature, including murder, firing at police, arson, etc.
