PESHAWAR, June 20: The provincial assembly passed by majority vote the Rs303 billion Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget for the next fiscal here on Wednesday.

To the dismay of opposition members, Speaker Karamatullah Khan Chagharmatti clubbed together scores of cut motions that MPAs belonging to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazal, Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao and both factions of the Pakistan Muslim League wanted to discuss in the house.

He denied them the chance to discuss each cut motion in detail on the pretext that the opposition had already been given ample opportunity to discuss the budgetary proposals.

The Rs303 billion budget was the fifth one to be presented by the provincial government led by the Awami National Party.
