KARACHI, June 20: A judicial magistrate issued on Wednesday a show-cause notice to a policeman for failing to comply with court orders.

A man moved an application in court under Section 516-A (order for custody and disposal of property pending trial in certain cases) of the criminal procedure code stating that an oil tanker of a state-run oil marketing company was taken away around three weeks ago and the vehicle in question was later found parked outside the Jackson police station.

The applicant contended that the vehicle was carrying highly flammable fuel at the time of the offence and it may still be containing the same to some extent, but the police refused to return it to the company. He prayed to the court to grant the custody of the tanker and assured the court that it would be produced whenever needed.

On the last hearing, the court called a report from the investigation officer, Sub-Inspector Iftikhar, about the recovery of the vehicle or arrest of the accused and also directed him to submit a report under Section 173 of the CrPC.

The IO failed to file the reports before a judicial magistrate (west) on Wednesday.

Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Afzal Roshan issued a show-cause notice to the IO and asked him to appear in court on Thursday and file his reply.
