LAHORE, June 17: Punjab Governor Latif Khosa and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed their profound grief over the death of PPP leader MNA Fauzia Wahab.

The governor said late Ms Wahab was very sincere to her party and she would be remembered for her services for democracy.

Similarly, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a condolence message also expressed sympathies with the family of Ms Wahab and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with courage.

PPP senior leader and a close associate of Ms Wahab, Haider Zaman Qureshi said she continued advocating women rights throughout her political career. Her death was a great loss to the party and the country, he said.

“Ms Wahab belonged to the committed lot of the political workers who preferred to suffer than to compromise on the ideology,” Qureshi said.

President Asif Zardari’s Punjab Coordinator Navid Chaudhry, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Raja Riaz, Aslam Gill, Sajida Mir, Faiza Malik, Ijaz Gill, Samina Ghurki, Ahmed Riaz Sheikh, Shaukat Basra, Imtiaz Safdar Warriach, Samiullah Khan, Usman Salim Malik, Azizur Rehman Chan, Akbar Khan, Zakarya Butt and Munawar Anjum also expressed grief over Ms Wahab’s death.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Senior Federal Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Federal Minister Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain have also condoled the death of Ms Fauzia Wahab. They prayed for the departed soul.
