LAHORE, June 17: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated a computerised land record service centre in Lahore on Sunday and inspected the process to acquire a ‘fard’ (property ownership certificate) and the transfer of property. He also obtained the ‘fard’ of his land.
On the occasion, he said land record computerisation was an innovative project by the Punjab government to make easy the transfer of property. He said the move would end the complicated era of ‘patwaris’. The work on the project has been started in 24 districts of the province.
He alleged that the previous government had committed a massive corruption in the project and did nothing to implement the project. He said the corrupt mafia tried to create hurdles in the computerization of the project.
“We are determined to accomplish and implement the project,” he said, adding that the problems relating land grabbing, litigation and land disputes would be resolved in the province. He said the government had set up 11 service centers in various cities of the province in the last four years whereas the establishment of 30 more centres was underway.
He said the land record would be available online through the land record management information system and the ownership deed (fard) would be obtained in 30 minutes and the transfer of land in 50 minutes under the system.
