ISLAMABAD: Attorney General Irfan Qadir on Friday said that the government will form an independent team to probe the Arsalan Iftikhar-Malik Riaz case very soon, as directed by the Supreme Court, DawnNews reported.

Following the direction of the apex court, a free and transparent investigative process will soon begin, said a statement issued from the attorney-general’s office here on Friday. The AG will soon meet with the interior and law secretaries, chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), director general FIA and other officials in this regard, the statement added.

The attorney-general has said that after meeting with the officials, a probe team will be formulated which will not be influenced by anyone. There will be investigation against Malik Riaz and Arsalan Iftikhar as well, he added.

PML-Q chief’s moral support for Malik Riaz

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has rendered a moral support for former Bahria Town chief, Malik Riaz.

He said that Riaz has done a lot of good deeds in his life which should be kept in mind while probing against him. Adding, Riaz has spent millions in charitable purposes including ransom money for the release of Pakistani captives by Somali pirates, flood victims in southern Punjab, Ashiana Project and some other charity projects.

The PML-Q chief also mentioned that Malik Riaz posses several secrets regarding formation and breaking-up of governments, which would unmask so many “gentlemen.”
