ISLAMABAD, June 11: The Tarnol police arrested two persons in connection with separate murder cases.

The police said on May 9, a 29-year-old woman, Siraj Bibi, was gunned down at Sangjani when she was returning home along with her husband. The victim’s husband told the police that she was killed during a robbery attempt. However, her brother suspected that the husband of his sister was behind her killing.

During the course of investigation, the statement of the husband conflicted with the occurrence of the incident. When the police took the man into custody and interrogated him, he disclosed that he had killed his wife. He said he married Siraj Bibi eight years back but recently developed interest in her sister. The police said the accused planned the killing in connivance with his friends to marry his sister-in-law.

The police also arrested a man for killing his brother over a dispute of Rs150,000. Two months back, the accused reported to the police that his brother, Rehmanullah, was found dead at Chungi No 26, Pind Paracha.

The inspection of the crime spot by the police, however, suggested that the victim had been killed somewhere else as neither blood nor bullet shells were found there.

When the police started cross-examining the complainant, he escaped to his native town of Mardan.

However, the man was brought back to the capital and during interrogation he told the police that he had killed Rehmanullah.

He said when Rehmanullah needed money earlier this year, he sold his taxi and paid him Rs150,000 on the promise that he would return the amount within 10 days along with interest. However, when his brother failed to pay back the loan, he killed him.
