ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday said that there was no need to send any reference against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

Speaking to media representatives here today, the prime minister said that only a section of the press had been projecting the issue of sending a reference against the chief justice.

The prime minister said that there was no need to send such a reference and that reports suggesting the government was thinking otherwise were baseless.

Regarding another question on the Arsalan Iftikhar case, Prime Minister Gilani refused to comment saying the matter was sub judice.
