MARDAN, June 10: Unidentified militants blew up a government primary school for boys in Khat Kallay near Sheik Maltoon Town in broad daylight on Sunday.

Police said that two classrooms of the school were destroyed completely in the explosion. They said that 10 to 15 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.

Owing to summer vacations, the school was empty so no one was killed or hurt in the explosion.

“We have taken Anwar Ali, the watchman of the school, into custody. He is being interrogated as he was absent at the time of explosion,” police said.

The Sheik Maltoon Town police station registered FIR against unidentified militants and started investigation.

It merits a mention here that a police post, located on Mohib Road, was also blown up by unidentified militants four days ago.
