MARDAN, June 8: A man allegedly killed his wife and another man in the name of honour in the Jadeed Rorya area here on Friday.

Locals said the accused was suspicious that his wife had illicit relations with a man, who was a milk-seller. They said the accused along with his brother opened fire over his wife and the milk-seller after finding them together, killing them on the spot. The accused escaped the scene after committing the crime.

The city police station registered FIR against the alleged killers on the complaint of the father of the slain woman.

SHOP GUTTED: Fire broke out in a cloth shop in the China Market in Mardan on Friday, reducing to ashes cloth, blankets and other valuable goods worth millions of rupees, eyewitnesses said.

They said the fire started due to a short-circuiting in the shop owned by Arshad Khan, which engulfed the entire shop in no time.

Shah Mumtaz Khan, SHO of city police station, said other shops in the market were saved as the fire brigade controlled the fire and extinguished it in two hours. He said the police registered FIR of the fire incident and started investigation.—Correspondent
