GUJRANWALA, June 2: Aroop police claimed on Saturday to have rescued minor son of a trader who was kidnapped for ransom three days ago and arrested his captors.

Speaking at a hurriedly called press conference at his office, Regional Police Officer Amin Vains said Rehan (3), son of trader Khalid Mehmood of Naser Town, was kidnapped from his street and taken to Narowal. Later, the kidnappers demanded ransom for Rehan’s release.

Vains said a police team arrested Arsalan Javed and Atif Ilyas from Nenowali village in Narowal and seized Rehan. Police also recovered three pistols and cartridges from them. He said the accused ‘confessed’ their crime during interrogation.

STRIKE: Low paid employees of the district headquarters hospital observed a complete strike and staged a sit-in outside the outdoor ward for acceptance of their demand for a service structure.
