HYDERABAD, June 1: To cope with heavy rain and flood as forecast by the Meteorological Department, fisheries minister discussed a contingency plan for the upcoming monsoon season.

Minister Zahid Ali Bhurgari said at a meeting on Friday the officers should keep close coordination with the Meteorological Department in view of flood forecast.

The government, he said, will support the plan and release funds and would punish those found deviating from their duties. He also informed of visiting bunds of Indus along with district administration officials.

He directed the district administration to restore waterway and strengthen protective bunds by removing encroachments and agencies to ensure law and order situation remains under control.

The meeting was attended by MPA Suhail Yusuf, commissioner, deputy commissioner, SSP, managing director of Wasa and officials of irrigation, agriculture, education, health, Hesco and other departments.
