KARACHI, June 1: Paceman Waqar Ali excelled with a five-wicket haul as Zone-II Whites outclassed Zone-III Blues by seven wickets in the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal cricket tournament for the Medicam Trophy here on Thursday.
Waqar claimed five for 25 to send Zone-III Blues crashing to 66 all out in 16.5 overs at the Nazir Hussain Young Fighters Ground. Zone-II Whites lost three wickets before reaching their target in the 14th over.
In a close finish at the Asifabad Sports Ground, Zone-VII Whites defeated Zone-I Blues by 13 runs.
Sumair Rafiq scored 47 with five boundaries to help Zone-VII Whites make 172 in 47.3 overs. Spinners Hafiz Hasan Taimur and Widwanullah shared eight wickets equally between them.
Zone-I Blues, in reply, were dismissed for 159 at the start of the 46th over with Fakhar Tahir (43) and Hafiz Hasan Taimur (36) their main run-getters.
Off-spinner Arshad Butt and slow left-armer Mohammad Hammad each grabbed three wickets.
