A NUMBER of papers recently carried advertisements about ‘inauguration and ground-breaking of landmark projects of the CDA’ by Prime Minister Gilani. It would be pertinent to ask about the progress of projects initiated a long time ago. E-12 sector was inaugurated in 1989 but allottees have witnessed no development in the past 23 years. The prime minister had directed the CDA two years ago to develop this sector on ‘a war footing’. There is still no sign of any development.

Similarly, the foundation stone for dualisation of service road between F 11/G 11 and F 12/G 12 up to Kashmir Road was laid by the CDA chairman in September last year with a claim to complete the work in one year. No progress is visible.

Besides, it is suggested that some CDA official concerned should visit this busy road to see its pathetic state and  carry out immediate necessary repairs.

The advertisement also claims that seasonal plantation of saplings will be increased from 800,000 to one million. Whereas increase in the plantation is desirable, it would be good to learn about the targets of the past four to five years versus the survival rate achieved.
