LARKANA, Dec 12: The DPO, Larkana, suspended on Thursday Mahota SHO Abdul Nabi Rind and ordered registration of an FIR against him for hushing up murder of a girl, Shamshad Kehar, after taking bribe.

According to the chairman of the District Public Safety Commission, Dr Niaz Ahmed Chandio, he received an anonymous application, regarding the murder, which took place three days ago in Agani village and was witnessed by a large number of the villagers.

He told this correspondent that the SHO had covered the crime after taking a bribe of Rs60,000.

The villagers said that the Shamshad was fired at by her uncle, Manzoor Chandio, while she was dancing in a marriage ceremony in Agani village.

She tried to escape after being injured but Manzoor, Mushtaq, Sajjad and Shahmir followed her.

She was later severely beaten with sticks and stoned to death in the village.

An elected representative, on the condition of anonymity, said that the “killers” had struck a deal with the SHO of Mahota police station and paid him a bribe to hush up the crime.

He opined that the body of the girl was either thrown into the Dadu Canal or in a well or buried at an identified place.

The DPO has appointed DSP, Saddar, Akhtar Chandio, for investigation.

The DPO, confirming the crime, said that he picked up Mukhtiar Kehar, the father of the deceased.

He said that the mother of the girl acknowledged that her daughter was fired at and later stoned to death after her hands were chopped.

The DPO said that a police constable of Kety Mumtaz police helped the accused strike a deal with the SHO and he was absent from duty on Thursday.

The Nazim of Akil union council also confirmed the incident and the allegation against the SHO, Mahota.
