TIMERGARA, May 26: Three people, all members of a family, were killed and 14 suffered injures when a car and a passenger van collided head-on in Ashari Gut area here late on Friday.

According to local police, the dead were Raabia and her sons, Inamullah and Fahim, while her husband, Mohammad Farooq, who drove the car, was among the injured whose are admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara.

They quoted doctors as saying that the condition of the injured was out of danger.

Police said Mr Farooq, of Makan Bagh area in Swat, had come to Upper Dir with family for consult doctors and lost wife and two children in the accident on the way to Mingora.

They said investigation into the accident had begun after the registration of a case.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf leader Khawaja Mohammad Khan Hoti on Friday urged Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to step down over contempt of the court after announcing the holding of fresh elections in the country.

He criticised the National Assembly speaker for not disqualifying the convicted prime minister and said she didn’t deserve to be the custodian of the House.

Mr Hoti was speaking to reporters and party workers at the hujra of Salim Khan in Chakdara after heavy rains and dust storm disrupted the PTI workers’ convention.

The PTI leader alleged that the prime minister led a group of looters and he should be tried for that. He accused the NA speaker of being partial.

He criticised the ANP leadership of massive corruption and said the ruling party leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should serve local commoners instead of making money through illegal means.

Later, Mr Hoti met a PTI delegation from Lower Dir and Malakand Agency and told them that the party would be organised in the two regions on completion of the ongoing membership campaign.
