MIRAMSHAH, May 26: A US drone attack on a suspected compound near Miramshah in North Waziristan on Saturday killed four people. According to local people, two missiles were fired at the compound in Zafar town.

Residents who rushed to the site to retrieve the bodies expressed ignorance about those who were at the compound at the time of the attack. But officials told Dawn in Peshawar that two Arab nationals were among the dead.

Drones had targeted a compound in the same locality on May 23 and killed five people. AFP adds: “The identities of the militants killed in the drone strike were not immediately known,” a senior security official said.

Two other officials confirmed the attack.

Residents said they were woken up by the sound of low flying aircraft and the noise of the missile strike.

“The house caught fire after missiles hit it and militants immediately cordoned off the area and were searching in the rubble,” a local tribesman said.
