PESHAWAR, May 24: Police recovered a 13-year-old kidnapped girl in a raid on house in Daudzai area here on Thursday.

A police official said that the girl identified as Rimsha, daughter of Rehmat Khan, belonged to Dir and was kidnapped from Islamabad. He said that the girl had been sold allegedly by her maternal uncle for Rs60,000. DSP Sahibzada Sajjad led the raiding party.

The official said that the girl spent nine months in chains, as the accused Zareen Shah, an Afghan national, had kept her in a small locality of Imran Garhi under tight security.

He said that during interrogation the accused claimed that the girl was his wife, but she was mentally upset and as such he used to keep her legs tied.

However, the official said that the girl was fully healthy and the accused feared she would flee if kept free.

“We have informed the girl’s father and maternal uncle and they would explain who was behind her kidnapping and selling.

He said that the girl’s family belonged to Dir, but it had shifted to Islamabad where her maternal uncle sold her.

The police registered a case against the accused and further investigations are underway.
