LARKANA, May 22: Strike was observed in some cities of Sindh on Tuesday to protest against the killing of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz leader Muzaffar Bhutto, whose bullet-riddled body, stuffed in a gunny bag, was found in Hyderabad earlier during the day.

Protesters resorted to firing in the air to force shopkeepers to down their shutters, leading to the death of a man in Dokri.

Protests took place in different towns of Larkana and Shahdadkot districts. Unidentified motorcyclists fired at shops in the main market bazaar of Dokri town and injured three shopkeepers.

The injured, Nazar Mohammed Kumbhar, Mohammedzada Pathan and Abdul Hanan Pathan, were shifted to Chandka Medical College Hospital, where Mohammedzada died. The town virtually came to a standstill after the shooting.

In Warah, masked motorcyclists took to the streets and resorted to aerial firing, leading to closure of shops. Unidentified protesters torched two 10-wheeler trucks near a school and a rice mill.

In Qambar also, JSMM activists took to the streets, telling shopkeepers to suspend business. Two pedestrians, Imran Mangi and Ramzan Baloch, received gunshot injuries.

In Nawabshah, unidentified armed men forced closure of markets and resorted to aerial firing in different parts of the city. They forced shopkeepers to close their business on Sakrand and Masjid Road.

A complete strike was observed in Dadu also. Station Road, Katchehry Road and Shahi Bazar remained closed. Activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz and Jeay Sindh Tehrik staged a demonstration outside the press club.

Strike was also observed in Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Johi, Sehwan, Bhan Syedabad, Sann, Jamshoro and Kotri.
