PML-Q leader asks Mian Azhar to resign

RAWALPINDI, Dec 11: The PML-Q central vice president, Syed Kabir Ali Wasti, has asked Mian Azhar to resign as the party’s president.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Mr Wasti said Mian Azhar ignored democratic norms and traditions after his defeat in the October 10 election.

He said Mian Azhar’s resignation was must to strengthen democratic values. But unfortunately he preferred to stick to the top slot of the party despite no confidence in his leadership by electorates and party members.

The PML-Q leader said Mian Azhar lacked leadership qualities and he was by no way suitable for the office of the PML, president. He regretted that ignoring his status as president of the party, Mian Azhar, had indulged himself in creating rift in the party ranks.

He said it was most unfortunate that the party president remained busy in conspiracies to weaken the newly elected government of the party. Wasti said reports like contacts with Shahbaz Sharif are of secondary nature. Most regrettable point is that Mian Azhar has himself proved that he was incompetent to act as president of the PML, he added.

He reiterated that it would be better for his own face saving that Mian Azhar should resign, otherwise he should be better for his own face saving that Mian Azhar should resign, otherwise he should be ready to face the music in no trust move at party’s platform.

He dismissed propaganda made by cronies of Mian Azhar that like former ruling family of Sharifs, PML parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Shujat Hussein and Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi were concentrating all powers within their family.

Mr Wasti said Chaudhry Shujat Hussein did not accept the offer of the MMA and other groups and requests of the PML-Q parliamentary party to become Prime Minister with consensus.
