PESHAWAR/MARDAN, May 18: Bodies of two men stuffed in a bag were recovered from a canal in Mathra area in the suburbs of Peshawar on Thursday.
An official of the Mathra police said the bodies packed in a sack had been thrown into the canal near Dag Lar. However, on a tip-off the police recovered the bodies. The official said deceased were identified as Abdul Qayum, 24, of Multan Road, Lahore and Faiz Rasool, 27, of Vihari (Punjab).“We identified the bodies from the copies of national identity cards in their pockets,” the official said. He said it was yet to be ascertained if they had come to the area in connection with some business or they had been kidnapped by someone. He said the victims had beards, were wearing shalwar qamees and their bodies bore no signs of violence.
Meanwhile, two boys were injured in a blast in a sewerage line at Sikandarpura Peshawar.
In Mardan, police found the body of an unidentified 25-year-old woman in the agriculture fields of Mian Gulzara area here on Friday.
Muzamil Shah, the sub-inspector of Saddar police station, said that he was informed by residents of the concerned area about the body.
He said they shifted the body to district headquarters hospital Mardan. It seemed that the victim was shot dead by unknown killers a day earlier and then his body was thrown in the fields, he added.
The Saddar police registered FIR against unknown men and were making efforts to nab the killers.
