PESHAWAR, Dec 11: The MMA is certain to bag at least 11 Senate seats in the province.

The MMA component parties have yet to reach on a Senate seats allotment formula. However, they have agreed to accommodate their smaller allies.

MMA leaders hope they would bag nine seats, which makes the biggest chunk in the House. The JUI-F and JI would get the lion’s share. Out of the remaining four components, JUI-S, Jamiat Ahle-Hadith (Sajid), JUP, and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Islami would get one each.

The Jamaat has nominated Prof Ibrahim, Merajuddin and Prof Khursheed Ahmed for the Senate seats. The JUI-F has allotted tickets to Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan and administrator of Darul Uloom Sarhad Khalid Binori.

The chief of his own faction of JUI Maulana Samiul Haq has decided to contest for the sole seat. The MMA has also allotted a ticket to Maulana Abdus Salam Salfi of JAH.
