Published December 12, 2002

SUKKUR, Dec 11: Hundreds of truck drivers blocked the National Highway near Kashmor on Wednesday to protest against the kidnapping of a bus driver.

The protesters ended the blockade after the police gave an assurance that the driver, Zamir Gul, who was kidnapped on Tuesday, would be recovered within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, a large number of teachers, on the call of the Government Secondary Teachers Association, blocked the Indus Highway near Kashmor to protest against the killing of a teacher.

They warned if the killers of the teacher, Liaqat Noonari, were not arrested and his brother, Shamsuddin Noonari, who was kidnapped by bandits, was not recovered, they would launch a protest movement.
