ISLAMABAD, May 17: To the delight of the citizens who do not have piped gas connections, the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has further declined by Rs10 per kilogram under the impact of international market trend.

“The Rs10 reduction is good news for the people living in remote areas including those around Rawalpindi and Islamabad who do not have the gas pipeline system and are totally dependent on either the LPG or firewood for cooking,” said Irfan Khokhar, Chairman LPG Distributors Association.

He further said the current decline in the LPG prices has resulted in reduction of Rs120 in the cost of 11.8 kg domestic cylinder, while Rs480 decline was recorded in the price of commercial cylinder.

“Now the LPG producers and the marketing companies are offloading their stocks by offering cheaper rates,” said Mr Khokhar. As a result the LPG rates in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Kohat and Jhelum have reduced to Rs90 per kg.

After the decrease, the LPG rates in Karachi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Gujrat and Sialkot have reached as low as Rs80 per kg while its price in Sukkur, Hyderabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Multan, Dera Ismail Khan, Bahawalpur is now at Rs85 per kg.

The highest LPG rates in country are in Gilgit-Baltistan, Fata, Balakot, Muzaffarabad, Mansehra, Nathiagali and Swat areas where it is being sold at Rs110 per kg.
