KARACHI, Dec 11: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali spent a busy day in Karachi on Wednesday.
He arrived here on a two-day visit after assuming the office of prime minister.
At the airport he was received, among others, by Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro, Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan and Chief Secretary K. B. Rind.
The prime minister was accompanied by Federal Minister of information Shaikh Rashid Ahmed and Federal Minister of Water and Power Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao.
From the airport, the prime minister drove straight to the Mazar of the Quaid-i-Azam to pay tribute to the Founder of the Nation. He laid a wreath at the Quaid’s Mazar and offered Fateha and later recorded his impressions in the visitors’ book.
Later, the prime minister visited the KESC head office where he was briefed on the KESC’s performance.
He also held various meetings at the State Guest House.
MAHMOOD HAROON: Prime Minister Jamali paid a courtesy visit at the residence of Mahmood A. Haroon, a veteran politician and former governor of Sindh.
The prime minister remained with Mahmood A. Haroon for some time and inquired after his health. Recalling the services of the Haroon family to the creation of Pakistan, the prime minister said our generation is enjoying the fruits of their struggle.
The elder brother of Mahmood Haroon and a veteran politician, Yousuf Haroon, was also present on the occasion.
LNH: The prime minister visited Liaquat National Hospital in the evening to inquire after the health of Mir Saeed Khan Rind.
Mr Rind, a tribal leader of Jacobabad district, is in an intensive care unit of the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital after he suffered serious head injuries in a road accident near Muzaffargarh on Nov 24.
The prime minister also visited the Emergency Ward of the hospital and inquired after the health of patients.
Later, he attended a dinner in the Governor’s House, where some of the local leaders of the PML (Q) were also present.—APP
