The Aram Bagh police, meanwhile, registered a case (FIR 135/2012) under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against the unknown suspects on the behalf of the state.

They said two men on a motorbike came to see 40-year-old Abdullah Khan at his general store in Railway Colony. They had a brief chat with Abdullah before one of them pulled out a pistol and fired a single shot that hit him in the head.

“The victim died on the spot and the riders sped away,” said Inspector Zulfiqar Sammo, SHO of Jackson police station. “We have spoken to his family members who admitted of some enmity within the family. They also suspect one of their relatives.”

He said the case had not been registered as the family of the victim was still in a state of shock and busy in his burial arrangements.
