ISLAMABAD: Minister for Regulations and Services Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday said after consultations with legal aides and allied parties, an appeal would be filed in Supreme Court against the verdict about Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Talking to reporters at Supreme Court premises after the court verdict, Firdous said that the PPP had been always the victim and target which was painful for Party leadership and workers.

“Conviction of the prime minister, of a party, which created and guarded the Constitution, is continuation of the ongoing process of convictions against the PPP leaders”, she said.

“The Prime Minister is still respectable for the party and its workers as he stood by the graves of our Shaheed leaders,” she said in an emotional tone.

She said that the PM has convened special Cabinet meeting in the afternoon to thoroughly discuss the issue.

She also lauded the support by coalition partners in difficult times which indicated that Yousuf Raza Gilani was not only the prime minister of the PPP but also of all allies.
