BAHAWALPUR, Dec 9: Derawar police have failed to find a clue to four armed men who took away four costly and rare chandeliers from the ancestral graveyard of late Nawab of Bahawalpur, some 140 kms from here in Cholistan desert late Thursday last.

The foreign-made chandeliers were installed in the family graveyard in 1950 by late Muhammad Sadiq Khan Abbasi. The rare chandeliers have an estimated cost of over Rs30 million which the late Nawab had brought from Britain.

As per reports, four armed men allegedly tortured the Nawab’s guards deployed there and later tied them up with ropes. One of the costly chandeliers was also reported to be broken when it was being removed from a height by the accused. On the report of former MNA Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi, the police highups assured him of prompt action and recovery of the costly chandeliers.

Meanwhile, Yazman DSP Malik Muhammad Hussain, in whose jurisdiction the Derawar police station falls, claimed to have arrested all the accused, but he did not divulge the details.
