BAHAWALPUR, Dec 9: The Mutahidda Majlis Amal (MMA) will continue its struggle within the assemblies for the restoration of real democracy, 1973 Constitution and a civilian president.
This was stated by MMA leaders and deputy parliamentary leader in Punjab assembly Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar, MNA Hafiz Sulman Butt, and Punjab JI secretary Zafar Iqbal Hassan while talking to newsmen here on Monday.
They said their party would continue to sit on the opposition benches in the national assembly and would not strike a bargain over the LFO and other such issues.
The MMA government in the NWFP would implement its manifesto within the framework of the constitution, they said. The MMA leaders demanded that the PPP should be allowed to form its government in the Sindh province.
They regretted that in Balochistan the minority PML-Q party was converted into the ruling party due to the government support.
About the negotiation of the MMA with the ruling PML-Q in the centre on the LFO and other issues, they said the MMA still stood there where it was before the prime minister’s election.
Mr Butt told a questioner that both former premiers Ms Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to return to face their cases in courts. The district government system should be reviewed and improved, he added.
