Environment cell set up for newsmen

Published December 10, 2002

PESHAWAR, Dec 9: The management of Peshawar Press Club has established an environment cell with the collaboration of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) for apprising journalists about the hazards of rapid environmental degradation in the city and measures for its remedy.

The objective of the cell was also to persuade journalists to educate people about the effects of bad environment on their life by highlighting environmental problems.

The environment cell of the PPC will provide printed material on environmental issues to newsmen. Apart from holding seminars and workshops on the issue, tours for journalists would also be arranged with the assistance of various NGOs.

The cell will also provide books on measures adopted to cope with the hazards of environmental pollution.—APP
