This spring, artist Shahid Rassam raised funds for a children's charity by painting live to the poetry of Ashafq Husain and sitar recital by Anwer Khursheed at the South Asian Gallery of Art in Mississauga, Canada. He completed the six feet by four feet canvas in the stipulated 30 minutes. The occasion was also the unveiling of a giant portrait made by the painter of the 91-year-old and the world's longest serving mayor, Hazel McCallion of Mississauga. Rassam spent over two years studying the persona of the iron lady,  mayor for 42 continuous years and counting. —Agencies
